Jamie Miller is an award-winning filmmaker based in St. John's, Newfoundland with a focus on intimate, character-driven stories rooted in a distinct sense of place and human connection. With a passion for documentary form, Jamie is interested in exploring emotional landscapes through crossing genres and mixing media, looking for the poetic edge to all of her work.

Jamie’s directorial debut, Prince's Tale (2018), was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award and won multiple festival honours, including Best Short Canadian Documentary and the Audience Choice Award at Hot Docs. Her subsequent films include the CBC documentary MerB'ys (2020) and the narrative short Proximity (2021), for which she received the MJ Emerging Filmmaker Award from the St. John's International Women's Film Festival. Jamie is a graduate of York University's Film Production program and an alumna of DOC Breakthrough and Women in the Director's Chair (WIDC). She is deeply committed to creative education, and loves nothing more than supporting a new generation of filmmakers in making their ideas become reality.

Jamie is currently finishing her first feature documentary, Captain Newfoundland: Transmissions from the Tip of Atlantis, and practicing her favourite karaoke bangers.
