A pop culture oddity, Stirling’s Captain Newfoundland—a cosmic, interdimensional figure—was broadcast on late-night TV,merging sci-fi, spirituality, and counterculture in a way that shaped generations of Newfoundlanders. Blending archival footage, animation, and cinematic storytelling, CAPTAIN NEWFOUNDLAND embraces the surrealist, mixed-media aesthetic that defined Stirling’s NTV programming. The film will explore how Stirling’s mythology extended beyond television, influencing a movement of creativity and rebellion in Newfoundland and beyond.
